Austin Public Library

Client: APL (Personal Project)   |   2023   |   Logo, Social Media Design

I designed social media graphics for the Austin Public Library which visually highlighted all the resources they have to offer in a clear way with strong stylistic choices. I also designed a poster for their "Summer of Reading" event that utilized the same aesthetic and aimed to appeal to Gen Z.

Taking into consideration the lack of knowledge the younger generation has about its local libraries and the decline of library use, I wanted to counteract that by re-branding the look of the library to be more modern and youth-oriented. I used bright, popping colors for the logo and added a bookmark illustration that also mimicks a ribbon to hone in on the academic feel. I took strong inspiration from the New York Public Library which I feel has iconic branding that lends itself well to their audience. I similarily wanted to create a simple iconic look that could easily be used across mediums for brochures, library cards, bookmarks, etc.
